Lawrence
Yun, Ph.D.
Dr. Yun is an economist by training and is a technical analyst for Booth
Morgan Marketing Innovation. During a career that has included assignments
in the private sector, government, and academia, Dr. Yun has acquired
significant experience in program evaluation, performance measurement
and optimization, applied statistical and econometric analysis, and survey
design and analysis.
Lawrence's recent work includes modeling movie degradation for a major
broadcasting company by employing the latest time-failure model. He has
also studied customer satisfaction, customer retention, and customer valuation
for large financial services companies (insurance, mutual funds, and credit
cards). Here, he utilized causal path modeling to separate the "derived"
importance from the customer's stated importance to pinpoint the key drivers
of customer value. He has also worked on the development of input/output
inter-industry forecasting models. Using the methodology developed by
the Nobel laureate Wasily Leontief, Lawrence incorporated data from all
the industry sectors of the economy with macroeconomic variables, including
the changes in the money supply, consumer spending, investment spending,
and government expenditure.
Dr. Yun's governmental assignments include estimating the efficiency of
district IRS office tax collection efforts using the proprietary CrossPoint
Evaluator; developing and evaluating the student loan consolidation
model for the U.S. Department of Education using both statistical and
operations research techniques; and analyzing the well-being of survivors
of veterans and the efficacy of the VA administered employment training,
financial counseling, and bereavement counseling for the Veterans Administration.
Dr. Yun also worked in the former Soviet Republic countries as a contractor
to the U.S. Agency for International Development for training local officials
on privatization, economics of taxation, and financial market reform (including
the development of the nascent stock market exchange in Almaty, Kazakstan).
Lawrence also possess security licenses, Series 7, 63 and 65, and has
worked for Prudential Securities.
At Booth Morgan, he employs sophisticated data mining tools, Causal Path
Modeling and statistical software packages, and BMC's own proprietary
statistical and operations research software.
Dr. Yun earned his doctorate in economics at the University of Maryland.
His dissertation examined the life-cycle theory of the firm. The rates
of return on investment were computed for the Fortune 500 companies over
the life-span of the company cohort to support the theory that aging firms
disproportionately misallocate their investment resources. His baccalaureate
degree is from Purdue University in mechanical engineering. ::
